Background
Barbarian Games wanted to bring its community of athletes together beyond competitions: a single place to post their performances, compare themselves with the best, challenge each other and stay in touch all year round. All covering every strength and endurance sport, from strongman to powerlifting to running and combat sports, with a constant requirement: performances that are validated, ranked and respected, from beginner to record holder.

Social ecosystem delivered full-stack: news feed and verified athlete profiles (multimedia posts, stories, reactions), official rankings (world records by movement, aggregated across all competitions and connected to the results engine), challenges by sport (video, badges, back-office generator), encrypted private messaging with emojis and GIFs (secure Tenor proxy), a directory of nearly 92,000 gyms with an interactive MapLibre map, a step-by-step refereeing tool linked to the results engine. Native React Native / Expo apps published on the App Store and Google Play with push notifications. 2-backend architecture + single sign-on (SSO), RevenueCat subscriptions, internationalization in 17 languages, media and performance optimization.
